Gaute Stokkan completed his Master of Science in Physics at the Norwegian Institute of Technology in 1995. His PhD in Materials Science, on the topic of Characterisation of Multicrystalline Silicon Solar Cells, was completed in 2003. He has worked with silicon solar cells throughout his career, both in industry (ScanWafer, REC) and academia (NTNU and SINTEF). His main interest is the microstructure of silicon; the evolution during growth and the impact on solar cell performance
